Writing AssignmentsYou will be expected to write 2 papers for the class. Quality is the most important thing. If you have difficulty writing in English you should make use of the Writing Resource Center: there are people paid by SVA to help students who have difficulty writing. I do not have a fixed length for the papers. Preferably, they should be about 8-10 pages. But, remember, quality is the most important factor. If you cannot write 8 quality pages, write 6, etc. There may be a few other small writing assignments along the way. It depends on how the discussions go. The topic of the paper should involve at least two artists who have used or addressed new media or machines. You should relate the work of these artists to the readings and develop an argument (or thesis) about the significance, objectives, and aesthetics of the artists. It may be useful to compare and contrast the two (or three or four) artists' work. Use books! Visit a Libraries and Book Stores. |
